Boonique Bamboo Bike

The art of the bicycle
Each Boonique bike is a work of love that comes from the work of Giuliano Fois. His bicycles stand out and are immediately recognizable for their slender and sinuous shapes and for the obsessive attention to detail that characterizes them. Each bike is a one-of-a-kind piece crafted with passion and skill from exceptional materials, where the natural beauty of carefully selected bamboo canes are combined with state-of-the-art bike components, to create one-of-a-kind pieces that will turn heads.
Boonique bicycles are designed and handcrafted in our workshop located in Sardinia, Italy.
Each bike is a tribute to Boonique's aesthetic principle of imperfect perfection, a complex concept that plays on the balance between technical mastery and natural defects of the materials, which are enhanced in their uniqueness and natural beauty making them shine through each piece.

Why bamboo
Resistant, light, eco-sustainable, elegant and with an unmistakable style, large vibration damper.

On a structural level, bamboo, also defined as vegetable steel, is characterized by great hardness and resistance, while at the same time having considerable flexibility. It has a higher strength than steel, being able to withstand up to 1 ton per cm2 of compression force, double that of steel.
Bamboo is also a remarkably light material, making it ideal for building bicycle frames,
It is also eco-sustainable. Unlike a tree like pine which takes 15 years to grow and produce timber, bamboo after being cut takes 3-5 years to regrow and be harvested, regenerating spontaneously: its renewability makes it a real eco-sustainable resource.
The uniqueness of the rods also allows each frame to be born as an exclusive example, with unrepeatable and delightfully unusual shapes and shades.
In addition to this, for the same size, bamboo releases much more oxygen (40%) and absorbs much more carbon dioxide (40%) than a wood forest.
A further advantage of bamboo is its ability to absorb vibrations up to 4 times more than carbon, thus allowing the creation of a comfortable bicycle capable of absorbing the roughness of the path.
