A deck of cards and endless challenges of broom or trump next to the hearth. Playing cards, the most popular entertainment in Italy, linked to folklore and tradition. From Bergamo, Bologna, Treviso or Neapolitan, the list is long: each area of the Bel Paese has its own. 40 rectangles, each with its own suit which can represent defeat or victory. We drew inspiration from here for our “Carte” scarf series. Each scarf is sold accompanied by a postcard describing the line and graphics and inside a white box.
MONEY They were called Mamluks, they were soldiers in the service of the Abassid caliphs and it is thanks to them that the ancestors of modern playing cards arrived in Europe. It was the end of the 14th century and since then the suit of coins which derives from the Pentacle, a five-pointed star inscribed in a circle, was already present. It represents wealth, success, opportunity and improvements derived from meritocracy. Denari is our silk twill scarf characterized by the warm notes of yellow.
