ANCIENT MARBLES During the late Republican period (II-I century BC) and even more during the Roman Empire (I century AD) the use of polychrome marble to decorate public and private buildings became widespread in the capital. Huge quantities of precious marbles flowed to Rome from all the controlled territories. The red porphyry, green serpentine, giallo antico and pavonazzetto were cut into slabs and worked to obtain marble inlays (opus sectile) for floors and walls. With the economic crisis of the empire and the affirmation of Christianity, the ancient buildings were gradually stripped of their marble coverings, also given the difficulty of procuring the precious material, and they became an inexhaustible quarry of polychrome marbles reused in the palaces and churches of Rome. The term "marble" derives from the Greek marmaros, with the meaning of "shining stone".
CōDICEDS jewels are the result of manual processes and finishes that give each piece unique characteristics. Therefore specimens of the same model may have slightly different characteristics and not be perfectly identical. These differences are not to be considered as defects.

Maintaining the high standards of Italian craftsmanship, this first collection of rings and cufflinks is inspired by ancient stone and metal working techniques such as micro-mosaic, cosmatesco, opus sectile, carving, chiselling and granulation , revisited through the use of contemporary materials and finishes, to create objects that are the result of extensive aesthetic research and capable of expressing strong emotions. Versatile objects, able to take different shapes thanks to a wide choice of stones that can be easily replaced through a proprietary and patented mechanism. Objects that respond to and adapt to the different aspirations of the single moment, always evolving, allowing the wearer to be the author of the expression of that moment.
